Tanz & Kunst Königsfelden (Baden)

Tanz & Kunst Königsfelden is a cultural institution producing in Baden and initiator/organizer of the dance platform unique in Switzerland. The institution cultivates the diversity of professional dance in the interaction of different musical and dance directions and styles. Supported by the association Tanz & Kunst Königsfelden, in cooperation with the Museum Aargau, Tanz & Kunst Königsfelden has been curated by choreographer and artistic director Brigitta Luisa Merki since its foundation in 2007.

Every two years, renowned international choreographers, visual artists, dancers, musicians and composers of various styles create productions for the atmospherically unique stage space of the monastery church. Alternately, large international productions as well as pedagogical art projects with children and young people from Aargau are created annually.

Since 2012, Tanz und Kunst Königsfelden has been one of the 9 cultural beacons of the canton. The offices are located in the Merker-Areal, the rehearsal studios and storage rooms in the Oederlin-Areal Baden.

In 2020, the Residenzzentrum tanz+ was founded. An independent vessel with studios and guest house for dance, choreography, music and performing arts under the association roof of the cultural lighthouse dance & art Königsfelden. The initiator of the interdisciplinary residency project is the choreographer Brigitta Luisa Merki, artistic director of the dance festival Tanz & Kunst Königsfelden. Thanks to the support of Swisslos Aargau, various foundations and private donations, the year-round residency program of tanz+ could start in March 2021.
