Dancestudio Liba Borak (Winterthur)

Liba Borak grew up in a small town in the former CSSR, now the Czech Republic. At the tender age of 3, the little girl already wanted to become a dancer and demonstrated her first dance steps to her family and friends. At the age of 4, she received her first ballet lessons. Her talent was quickly recognized, and it was now time to nurture it. At the age of 10, after passing the entrance exam, Liba was accepted into a theater ballet school. At the age of 15, she entered a ballet and music conservatory where, in addition to the compulsory general education subjects, she enjoyed a thorough dance, music and theater education. Four years later she left the school with the Matura certificate. This was followed by a year of intensive artistic training in dance, choreography, music and theater. At the age of only 19, she received an engagement at the State Theater of Ostrava, where she worked for 10 years with joy, motivation and ambition. During these years she gained the rich stage experience, which today is constantly reflected in the management of her dance school and her successes.

Rich in knowledge and skills, she left the professional theater world and moved to Switzerland in 1981. Here, in January 1983, she fulfilled a long cherished wish of her heart by opening her own dance and movement school in Winterthur-Wülflingen. With a lot of motivation, zeitgeist and continuing education, she constantly expands her course offerings with current dance styles and has thus turned her first modest dance studio with just 3 students into a renowned dance school. In the meantime, about 250 students attend her lessons. Liba Borak is a spirited woman with character and a great sense of humor. She is a dancer with heart and soul and knows how to transfer her enthusiasm for dance to her students. Her lessons are characterized by level and are a real pleasure.

Liba Borak's classes today range from baby ballet, bodyfit, stretching and jazz dance to tap dance and hip-hop. In recent years, tap dancing in particular has become a focus of Dancestudio Liba Borak. The school has won countless prizes at Swiss and world championships in the last 10 years. Through their own productions and participation in various events, Liba, and her son Daniel Borak, have helped tap dance to become more popular. And since the dancing fire of the two is far from extinguished, this will continue for a while.
